nIR Technology

Near-Infrared reflectance technology is an available option for new development projects. When asking for nIR webbing, we are more than happy to meet your standards. Our Jacquard design team and lab are well equipped to serve you.

What is nIR technology and how does it work?

The infrared spectrum is made up of the wavelengths beyond the visible light spectrum but before microwaves. Infrared reflectance can be divided into categories by wavelengths: near-IR, short wave-IR, mid-wave, long wave, and far-IR. Near-infrared is the region closest in wavelength to what is detectable by the human eye. Mid- and far-infrared are progressively further from the visible spectrum. When developing a new product, we aim to create light, medium, and dark nIR signatures that result in a disrupting break-up when viewed through night vision goggles.

Every object has its own color under visible light. They also have a unique reflective signature in the nIR wavelengths. We are more than happy to meet your nIR standards, however, we need to be given your specific pass/fail criteria per color in each design. If you are unsure about how to determine these standards, we can work with you to develop criteria that would best suit your needs. Please contact us today for more information.

Nanosphere® Technology

NanoSphere® technology by Schoeller is a finish that repels dirt, oils, and water. Nano-particles form a fine structure of hills and valleys on the textile surface resulting in a substantial reduction in absorbency. This keeps the webbing dry and protected while remaining abrasion resistant and breathable throughout use.

Monster Edge™

Innovated here at Murdock, Monster Edge™ significantly increases the useful life of sling and tie down webbing. Our Monster Edge™ webbing shows unequaled edge abrasion resistance compared to other products in the market, while still maintaining a competitive price. The Monster Edge™ concept can be used with almost any kind of webbing, and still provides ease of sewing.

Fire Resistance

We have a variety of FR chemistry available to meet your specific resistance standards.

Silicone

Multiple types of silicone applications are available and are applied in-house. Silicone creates a friction grip that helps to hold our elastic webbing in place. It is a clear UV cured product that can be applied in various widths and thicknesses in straight or undulating lines.

Silicone Application

Latex

Latex is a natural, water-based material. We add the latex in liquid form, to help create a stiffer hand that can prevent the conduction of electricity.

Murdock Webbing is very serious about health and safety. We encourage all to understand the dangers of latex allergies and to consider who can come into contact with it and where this product is being used.

Reflective Yarns

Our reflective yarns are made of 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective material and then laminated to a polyester film for added strength. This reflective tape can be woven directly in our webbing. Retro-reflectivity helps the eye perceive objects in low-light conditions when illuminated by a light source. In more scientific terms, retroreflection occurs when light rays are returned in the direction from which they came. Retroreflective materials appear brightest to an observer located near the original light source.

Anti-Static Finish

Applying an anti-static finish to our webbing reduces the charge that is created in the fibers. Our post weaving application makes the fiber hydrophilic and resistant to gaining static charge in future use.
